Author pov:-

A week past their alliance was fixed, Devam's family called Naina for lunch as her family was still at her grandmother's place and they'll be back after 3-4 days.

At Devam's place at 12 noon:

The ladies of the house were busy in the kitchen making several dishes as it's the first time their soon-to-be daughter-in-law was coming to have lunch with them, the kids were busy in playing video games and the men's of the family were sitting on the couch in the living room discussing about their work.

" Devam, Naina se pucho wo kab tak aygi" his mom said,

While asking all the men to get up from there and asking one of the servant's to clean the place properly.

His mom wants everything to be perfect as her daughter-in-law is coming.

"Maa, maine message kiya tha, she'll be here by 1 or 2" Devam, informed his mother.

"Sab Naina ki pasand ka banaya hai na", his father asked.

Haan- Haan maine sab apni hone wali bahu ki pasand ka hi banaya hai, ap fikar mat kijiye, his mom replied while going back towards the kitchen, the men's took their stuff and went to the office room, not before asking one of the servants to clean up the remaining mess.

After a while.

Everyone was sitting in the hall excited, waiting for Naina to arrive, when his badi mumma said, "khana ready hai, baki sari cheezein bhi apni jagah per hai", (taking a look around the house), ab bas Naina jaldi se ajaye", but the kids were a little upset as they have been warned for not making a chaos over the place by leaving their toys and video games everywhere".

Naina pov:-

She woke up as the bright rays of the sun fell on her face, making her rub her eyes. She sat on the bed and picked up her phone while yawning, from the side table just to get shocked looking at the time.

It's already 11 in the morning and she has to get ready and also make her breakfast as there was no one at her place and also have to clean the house as the servants are on leave for a few days.

She quickly comes out of the bed and went to the bathroom taking her clothes from the cupboard.

After 30 minutes,she comes of the bathroom wearing a beautiful white coloured Anarkali suit, she quickly dry her hair's with the drier, then she wears her jhumka and does her minimal make-up with putting kajal in her eyes, lipstick and completes her look with a small black bindi in between her brows.

when she checked her phone, she saw a message from Devam asking about the timing she will reach

After getting already,she went to kitchen to make breakfast for herself. She decides to make sandwiches with a cup of tea for her as she is already late for her in-laws place and also because she wanted to have something light in breakfast

While pouring the tea into the cup it fell on her hand and she got burnt, she hissed in pain and put her hand into the running water to reduce the burning sensation,as she was applying the ointment on the burn,her phone rang indicating that her can has arrived so she just ran away like that to the cab making her way towards her in-laws house.

As she was visiting her in-laws for the first time, she thought of taking some sweets for the children as it doesn't look nice to go empty handed.

She saw a sweet shop on her way and asked the cab driver to stop and went to take the sweets.

She was nervous, excited and happy at the same time, she was feeling mixed emotions.

Although at first, she denied visiting there by giving the reason of making arrangements of ger upcoming events, but at last, she had to agree,as her parents kinda forced her to go at Devam's place because his parents were calling her from so much love and well now, she was left with no other option.

After around 30 minutes, the cab stops with a halt,infront of a big lavish villa, speaking luxury in all languages, soon the cab driver informs Naina that they reached the destination and she comes out of the car paying him the fair charges.

She moves towards villa, taking slow steps as she is busy in admiring the lavish beauty infront.

At Devam's place

Naina reached there and was really nervous,but she composed herself and put up a simple on her face, umm, not before taking deep breaths and "telling herself that everything will be fine, she can do it" to herself.

She she rang the door bell, the gates open and she was surprised to see the path made by rose petals all over the floor for her welcome.

She was so surprised and overwhelmed by this small gesture of her in-laws because it was all unexpected for her.

She stood there frozen for a good two minutes.

"Devam's niece" saw her and went back running upstairs to call everyone. All of them came downstairs, her mother asked one of the servants to get the "AARTI KI THALI" from the pooja ghar, Naina's lips curled up in a smile seeing the love, respect and affection from her in-laws towards her.

Devam's mother did her AARTI, everyone showered flowers on her,as if,she is no human but some goddess.

She entered the house with a smile and bent down to touch everyone's feet, starting from her Father-in-law, who blessed her saying "humesha khush raho", then she went to her mother-in-law, who held her shoulders,stopping her midway from touching her feet and pulled her into a hug, saying "betiyan gale lagti hain, per nhi chuti", which made Naina smile wider.

She repeated the same with other elder's of the family too. After exchanging the greetings,they all made their way to the hall, asking Naina to take seat on the couch.

After they all took their seats, Devam's mother went to the kitchen to bring all the snacks made for Naina.

She brought all her favourites and seeing the snacks Naina's eyes were shining with happiness.

She couldn't say anything but just sitting their in frown.

Her mother-in-law served her the snacks, she made her eat every snack with her hand.

Naina was already full and couldn't eat anymore so she said in her soft voice,

"Aunty, ab nhi kha paungi me".

"Kyu beta,khana pasand nahi aya kya?", his badi maa said.

Naina immediately shook her head in no and said,

"nahi aunty aisa nahi hai, wo mera pet ghar gaya hai,to jagah nahi hai ab pet mai".

His mother took a sigh of relief and said, "accha, mujhe laga tumhe khana pasand nahi aya, aur haan aunty nhi mumma".

Then Naina passed a smile and said "Okay mumma, par abh aur nhi kha paungi please"

"Acha theek hai mein forced nhi karti"

Then they all sat there and started to talk about random things, but Naina's eye's were curious to find that one person,he was no where around and it's been a while she came but couldn't see Devam and thought to herself,

"where is he? He knew I am coming,Still he isn't here, is he not ready for this alliance?, has someone forced him?"

And several thousand questions were coming into her mind, when his mom noticed Naina's eyes looking for him, she said,

" jise tum dhund rhi ho wo apne kamre mai hai, he is a workaholic person, go to his room, it's the first room from the stairs in right".her would-be-mother-in-law said

Naina comes out of her imaginary world listening to his mom's voice and, her next words made her cheeks turn red,as she blushed listening to what her would-be-mother-in-law just said.

Naina started fidgeting with her fingers and her gaze was now fixed to the ground,as she felt a shiver run down her spine just at the mention of him.

She gathered all her courage, and stood up from her place to make her way towards his room. She went upstairs and was standing outside his room, calming herself down by murmuring the words like

"you can do it Naina, you will do it, go for it Naina"

And then she took a deep breath before knocking the door, as she knocked the door, she heard his voice saying,

"Come in".

She entered the room and closed the door behind her, his gaze still fixed on some file he was working on. When he did not pay any attention to Naina, she said

"Hii"

and that was it, Devam immediately looked up with a shock closing his file and stood up from his place making his way towards Naina and said,

" I am sorry, I didn't knew you were here, actually I was busy in some important work, I am so sor-"

Naina cut him off in between before he could complete his sentence,

"it's okay...relax , you were busy in work so its okay , I am not going to scold u so relax it's okay." Say while giggle

Then Naina was fidgeting with her fingers, when Devam noticed a red mark on her hand, he immediately held her hand and asked her in a worried tone,

"what happened Naina, what is this red mark on your hand?"

Naina smiled seeing this care and concern of Devam for her.

She told him all what happened earlier, and Devam, scolded her in the most softest tone ever,

"can't you do your work properly, see you have hurt yourself so badly, sit here, let me get the ointment."

Naina told him that she has already applied ointment to the burn,but Where was Devam going to listen to her, so he again applied the ointment and then they sat down , There was complete silence for few minutes but it wasn't uncomfortable.

Finally Devam spoke breaking the silence,

"you are looking extremely gorgeous Naina".

And a red hue covered Naina's cheeks, as she muttered a

"thank you", to him without lifting her gaze.

After chit- chatting for sometime, Naina decided to leave as it was already 7 in the evening, so she get's up from her place and say's to Devam,

"I should leave now, it's already late".

He couldn't say anything but just nod at her, but he wanted her to stay a little longer so he could spend some more time with her.

Naina was about to open the door of the room, when Devam called her from behind,holding her wrist in his hand gently so as not to hurt her and said,

"May I kiss you here?", pointing towards her forehead.

Naina couldn't resist but nod her head in a yes, looking straight into his eyes, where she could see the respect and Love for her.

Devam brought her closer to himself, keeping her face in his big palms, caressing her cheeks with the pad of his thumb before pressing his lips on her forehead.

Naina's eyes closed by themselves, taking in this different feeling and her hands which devam placed on his broad and well built chest, were now in a tight fist of his shirt, with a smile on Naina's face.

Naina climbed down the stairs after there little moment together, followed by Devam.

They stood there in the hall, everyone had worried expression on their faces, which made the couple look at each other with a questioning gaze.

Not able to bear the uncomfortable silence of the family members, Devam asks,

"is everything alright?, you all seems worried".

His parents gave a look to eachother before breaking the news to the would-be-couple, which left Naina stunned, making her numb at her place. She was unable to process the news,which has been broked to her just now. Her eyes filled with tears,as just a single word could come out of her mouth, and that was.....................

Hehee...... cliffhanger 😁
